What information we collect
When you contact Skylight through the website, phone, WhatsApp or email, we may receive information such as your name, telephone number, email address, property postcode, the service you are interested in, job details and photographs you choose to upload. The website may also create limited technical and security logs needed to operate forms, prevent abuse and protect the site.
Do not upload information or photographs that are not relevant to your roofing or building enquiry.
How we use personal information
We use enquiry information to respond to you, assess the work you are asking about, prepare or discuss a quotation, arrange visits where appropriate, manage customer communication and keep reasonable business records. We may also use limited technical information to secure the website, detect spam and investigate faults.
Depending on the circumstances, processing may be necessary to take steps at your request before entering into a contract, to perform a contract, to meet legal obligations, or for legitimate business interests such as managing enquiries and protecting the website. Where you choose to allow analytics cookies, Google Analytics 4 may also process limited website-usage information to help Skylight understand page use and enquiry routes. The website keeps this analytics integration disabled until that consent is given.
Sharing, processors and retention
Personal information may be handled by service providers that support the website, hosting, email or other business systems. Where form protection is enabled, Cloudflare Turnstile may process limited technical information needed to distinguish genuine visitors from automated abuse. If you allow analytics, limited website-usage data may also be processed by Google for the Google Analytics service. Service providers should only receive the information necessary to provide their service. We do not sell customer personal information.
Enquiry records are kept only for as long as reasonably required for follow-up, business administration, dispute handling or legal obligations. Records connected with completed work may need to be retained for longer where accounting, tax, warranty or legal requirements apply.
If a service provider processes information outside the UK, appropriate safeguards should be used where required by data-protection law.
Photo uploads
Photographs uploaded through the quote form are used to help Skylight understand the proposed work. Uploads are validated for permitted image types and size, but customers should still avoid including unrelated people, documents, vehicle registrations or other personal information unless genuinely necessary for the enquiry.
Your data-protection rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights to ask for access to your personal information, correction of inaccurate information, deletion, restriction, objection to certain processing or portability. You may also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office.
Where processing relies on consent, consent can be withdrawn for future processing. Withdrawal does not make earlier lawful processing unlawful.
Security
Skylight uses reasonable technical controls intended to reduce unauthorised access and automated abuse, including server-side validation, form protection, rate limiting, anti-spam checks, service-area screening and restricted image uploads. Where enabled, Cloudflare Turnstile is used as an additional security check on public enquiry forms. No website or email system can guarantee absolute security.
